Academic Planning and Advising

Undergraduate Advising

Incoming freshmen and new transfer students are assigned a full-time advisor during their first year. At the end of the year, students transition to a faculty advisor and will receive an email with assignment details.

Students interested in changing their major to Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering should meet with the CEC undeclared/undecided advisor or seek university advising and declaration information.

Graduate Advising

Master's Advising

Master’s student are informed of their faculty advisor’s name in their admissions letter. Faculty advisor offices and office hours are displayed in the departments main office, Engineering 3100. Master's students should contact their advisor each semester to discuss their plan of study and other academic/career planning-related issues.

Doctoral Advising

Upon admission to the program, each PhD student is assigned a faculty advisor for guidance on coursework and the qualifying exam. After passing the qualifying exam, the department chair appoints a dissertation director as the advisor.
