The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering took its first step toward becoming a comprehensive, innovation-driven engineering community more than 40 years ago, beginning as a program in electronics engineering.

Our Mission

Our department promotes and maintains a strong research culture by providing the laboratories, facilities, collaborative partnerships, and support needed for impactful scholarship. The department offers excellent engineering education through modern, forward-looking curricula that integrate hands-on learning, interdisciplinary approaches, and meaningful engagement with industry and government. We emphasizes an enhanced student experience through continuous mentoring, academic advising, and career preparation across all programs.

We places its highest priority on sustained growth by expanding knowledge, research, and educational pathways in alignment with evolving technological landscapes, workforce demands, and the long-term success of its students and stakeholders.

Electrical and computer engineering students have access to specialized labs, collaborative classrooms and coursework, and meeting spaces across multiple campuses that support research and learning.

Instead of going to a scrap yard, this satellite dish serves as a platform for student projects involving satellite communications, space communications, and Earth-moon-Earth communications. With renewed interest in space travel and exploration, the dish will allow students to receive, process, and analyze signals from missions to the moon.
